September 11...We will never forget

“It has now been seven years since the terrible day that terrorists attacked the United States in New York and Washington DC and several heroes thwarted a third attack and died in Pennsylvania. We pledged to ourselves, during our first memorial, ‘That we would not forget.’ That simple pledge meant different things to different people. To some it meant revenge. To some it meant that we would, from now on, be vigilant and not allow ourselves to be attacked again. To others it meant that we would not forget those that died that day trying to save and protect innocent victims and to others it meant not to forget the very brave men and women that have gone to war to protect our way of life,” said Douglas W. Hagen, President and CEO in his keynote address.

This morning, the employees of B-K Lighting, Star Finishes, TEKA Illumination, and Blue Dolphin Design and Engineering held a memorial service to commemorate the 7th Anniversary of September 11th.

“As the whole story began to unfold and we heard of the many, many acts of heroism that took place, I wanted to acknowledge and memorialize those that lost their lives and to thank and pray for their families,” Hagen continued. “Then as we went to war against the supporters of terrorism, we found a whole new group of heroes. And, for the last seven years we have given thanks and support to these very brave men and women.”

In addition to the service, which the company has held annually over the past seven years, the employees of B-K Lighting, Star Finishes, TEKA Illumination and Blue Dolphin Design and Engineering also proudly announced a donation in the amount of $5,000 to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in New York City. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund provides unrestricted grants to the families of those who have been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan in the defense of America’s freedom. This is the fifth consecutive year the company has contributed to the Fund.
