We've seen a few details of the Shell Beach residence in the past but never quite like this. Our first "2 for $200" summer 2013 competition winner.  

Jeffrey Gordon Smith has capitalized on our "Best Shot" competition before but we've never seen this home near Morro Bay, California come to life as shown in this photograph. The space is inviting and pleasant because of a winning combination of architecture, landscape and lighting; the interior, transitional and exterior spaces are transformed into something greater than they each can provide individually.

In an understandable effort to present architectural details as best they may, photographers often take photographs during twilight hours in the absence of the most important element in architecture; the people who live, work and play in the space. This "Best Shot" submission illustrates the endgame that architects, designers and contractors seek - a long-term, sustainable and livable environment that raises the quality of life for its inhabitants.

TEKA Illumination and B-K Lighting luminaries help to create a unique and impressive ambience.

We can see in this shot that there are four LHS-7160 Light House Sconces on the house exterior and three of B-K Lighting's Louvered Square Brick Star™ fixtures on the raised concrete gardening beds. It should be noted that the light produced from both of these luminaries do not display typical glare bombs seen in other fixtures and that the light created is consistent, gentle and calming yet still provide practical lighting of entry ways and stairs.
