The Music Barn

One of the hottest trends in contemporary architecture is the preservation and reuse of existing building material. This green practice reduces landfill waste, preserves buildings of historical significance and is often the only source of mature and seasoned lumber that otherwise isn’t available. Birdseye Building Company completed just such a project in Waitsfield, Vermont in 2009.

As shown, most surfaces of the interior space are refinished barn board. The Beacon Stem Mount (BSM) fixtures are finished in Weathered Iron (WIR) and help echo the varying colors and antique look of the interior. The kitchen in total incorporates seven fixtures. Three hang over the bar with a twelve inch diameter shade while the cooking area is illuminated by four BSM’s with the larger, fifteen inch shade. Two additional Beacon Stem Mount fixtures hang over a piano on the second story.
