The Mori Hosseini College of Hospitality and Culinary Management at Daytona State College (Daytona Beach campus) is a project covered in TEKA Illumination products!

It is only fitting that the college would utilize the pure and enduring copper, brass and bronze materials that make up each and every TEKA Illumination product and in such quantity. The college is a statement to both its intended purpose and it's students future aspirations within the hospitality industries.

The building was designed by FA•A Florida Architects, headed by Principal Architect and President of FA, Mark W. Anderson. Lighting design was collaborative between FA and Don Rhyne of SESCO Lighting. The college is approximately 67,000 square feet. Three major tenants call the building home; culinary arts, the aforementioned hospitality programs and a museum of photography. According to FA•A, "the buildings exterior aesthetics blends traditional campus elements with a modern style."

daytona patioThis colonnade and seating area of the college is graced by no less than twenty Beacon Wall Mounts and eight Large Beacon Stem Mount luminaires.

Though the application of the lighting is traditional, the reoccurring patterns are modern in concept. The detail shot below shows just how a simple shadow can create a rather sophisticated visual statement.

The main pathway to the structure is flanked by two Large Beacon Poles and closer to the entrance, numerous Lighthouse bollards. Notice the various sizes of the Arcade Series Louver fixtures that mark the building address and flank the upper story windows.

The perimeter of the building is graced by another set of Beacon Poles as shown in the photograph below.

There are ten Large Lighthouse Floodlights (Now APL) perched atop cast concrete bollards.

daytona patina differences

The image above left shows the varying patinas on two fixtures which are in close proximity. The fixture on the white column is a Beacon Wall Mount whereas the hanging pendant fixture on the right is a Large Beacon Stem Mount.

The former has undergone a more advanced patina process because of relative exposure. The latter is tucked beneath the porch where it recieves less moisture and less active oxidation. The image to right shows a post-mounted Large Lighthouse Floodlight (Now APL). Like the column mounted BWM, it has developed a similar patina being exposed to a similar open air flow.
